Santa Lucia Rattan Chair Creates Delightful Moments at Barcelona’s El Cercle Restaurant

El Cercle, the newest restaurant by renowned Catalan chef Albert Ventura, is located in the medieval palace of the Reial Cercle Artístic. Traditional Catalan cuisine with a modern twist is offered at La Biblioteca. At Les Quatre Estacions punters can enjoy traditional tapas and
at La Barra visitors can sample modern Japanese cuisine.

Overlooking the historical buildings and Barcelona’s bustling city life, the El Jardi roof terrace provides the option of enjoying culinary delights al fresco. El Cercle was designed by architect and interior designer Alfredo Arribas. Reial Cercle Artístic was initially established to provide funding for painters who needed models. Today, the historical structure houses exhibitions and music events, among other things, and members can use studios, workshops and a library with a comprehensive art books collection.
Richard Lampert’s Santa Lucia chairs lend the El Jardi terrace a natural and relaxing ambience. The 60 chairs, featuring a natural rattan seat and a black powder-coated tubular steel frame, are combined with steel tables, counters and banisters. In 1969, German interior and furniture designer Herbert Hirche developed his Lucia chair with a backrest designed to simultaneously serve as an armrest. The design, with its strong architectural feel, was created for the redesign of the first Italian Trattoria and Pizzeria in Stuttgart that went by the same name. The rattan chairs used at El Cercle are also available with a silver-coloured frame. The seats and backrests are additionally available in a weatherresistant
and low-maintenance recyclable polyethylene finish, with the grey-beige design featuring a white frame and the black-brown design a black coated frame.
